INTRODUCTION
Spurs is loosely organized around the concept "having
things turn out right". Have you ever gotten up in the morning,
looked at the newspaper and thought, "I've had it. I'm sick
of this." I have. I'm sick of the mess. I want
things-- meaning the earth, and even the universe -- to turn out
right. In a small way, that means being kinder and gentler to
each other. Really doing it, not talking about it.
More "small
ways": I'd like everyone have better table manners and good
taste. Not wear loud shirts and build ostentatious houses. Remember
Mother's Day. We'd like there to be less bitching at horse shows
and around colleges and high schools and everywhere else.
Concerning
the really big problems, we'd like us humans to knock off the
stupid stuff before we blow up the planet. Spurs is our answer.
About the name of my endeavor-- Spurs. Spurs is produced by a horsewoman on a horse ranch. We horse people know what spurs are
for. They work, don't they? That's what this magazine is: Spurs
that come in through your eyeballs.
Our time on earth is finite.
When we die, will we have completed
the tasks that we came here to do? Will we have completed our
mission on earth? Will we be the people we were born to be? Only
if we get to work. For that, sometimes you need Spurs.
That's
what Spurs is all about: being human.
